1. What does this policy cover?
This policy applies to the Bilby: YKS TYT AYT Android app (package name: com.sinavhazirlik.bilby) and this Bilby website. You can contact Bilby’s developer about privacy at bilby.support@gmail.com.
The app does not ask you to create an account or enter your name or email address. However, pseudonymous identifiers, such as installation and subscription IDs, may be linked to your use of the app. We do not treat them as completely anonymous data.
2. Information stored on your device
Your onboarding preferences, selected subject, learning progress, answers, training records and exam records are stored in the app’s local database and preferences. Bilby does not currently synchronise this progress across devices through a Bilby account.
There is no server progress database to which all these records are uploaded. However, the analytics events described below may send information to service providers, such as the completion of a step, an answer result or your choice of subject.
If Android backup and device transfer are enabled in your settings, the operating system may back up app data through Google’s or your device manufacturer’s backup service, or transfer it to another device. These operations are subject to your device’s backup settings and the relevant service’s terms.
3. What data is sent to service providers?
Usage and learning events
Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics measures screen visits, button interactions, onboarding steps and choices, interactions with the app review invitation, learning and training results, the subscription screen and purchase flow outcomes. Events may include subject and content IDs, durations, results, app version, subscription status and flow IDs.
The SDK also processes technical data such as an installation ID, device and operating system information, language and app information. Analytics may derive an approximate country or region from the IP address. Bilby does not request precise location permission. Advertising ID collection and ad personalisation are disabled.
Errors and app settings
Firebase Crashlytics processes crash reports, stack traces, device and version information, installation identifiers and technical context such as the screen or action where an error occurred. Remote Config uses an installation ID and technical app information to provide settings such as version requirements and update messages.
Subscriptions
Google Play processes payments. RevenueCat processes store transaction information needed to verify purchase history, products, subscription periods, transaction status and premium access. RevenueCat’s pseudonymous user ID may be associated with analytics and crash records. Purchase events may also be sent to Google Analytics.
You are not asked to provide Bilby with your card number or bank login details. Payment verification data is not included in analytics events. Names, email addresses, free text and question text are not sent in Analytics events. If you choose to email support, your email address and the information in your message are processed separately.
4. Why do we use this data, and with whom?
- To understand and improve the learning experience, onboarding steps and features people use.
- To identify errors, improve app reliability and provide necessary version updates.
- To verify subscriptions, provide premium access and resolve purchase or restoration problems.
- To respond to support requests, prevent misuse and meet applicable legal obligations.
For these purposes, we use Google/Firebase, Google Play, RevenueCat and, for the website, Cloudflare. These providers and their subprocessors may process data in countries outside Türkiye. Processing relies on applicable legal grounds, such as providing the service, legitimate interests and legal obligations, and on consent where required. This policy is not itself a request for explicit consent.
We do not sell data or use it for advertising targeting. Necessary information may be shared with competent authorities when legally required. You can review providers’ practices in the Google Privacy Policy, Firebase privacy information, RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
5. Retention and security
Local records may remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app; device backups may be retained separately. Google Analytics event and user data retention is set to 14 months. This is not a shared deletion period for aggregated reports or all records held by other providers.
Error and technical service records are retained according to the relevant provider’s practices. Subscription and support records are retained for as long as needed to run the service, resolve disputes and meet necessary legal obligations. We restrict access to the people and providers required to deliver the service. Communication with servers uses encrypted HTTPS connections.
6. Information and deletion requests
For a privacy request:
Email bilby.support@gmail.com with the subject “Bilby privacy request”.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to learn whether your data is processed, request information, correction, deletion or destruction, object to processing and contact a competent authority. To assess your request, we may ask for the minimum information needed to identify the relevant installation or transaction. Do not send passwords, card numbers or banking details.
Because there is no user account in the app, we may not be able to locate all installation records using only your email address. For data we can associate with you, we assess your request with the relevant services and explain any legal retention requirements or technical limitations.
You can delete progress on your device by clearing Bilby’s storage data in Android’s app settings. This resets your learning progress. Uninstalling the app or clearing local data does not automatically delete server records or cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are cancelled through Google Play.
7. Age group and notifications
Bilby is intended for high school students and exam candidates aged 13 and over, not children under 13. Minors should use the service with the support and permission of a parent or legal guardian where required. Please contact us if you believe data relating to someone under 13 has been processed.
Notification permission is requested through your device’s permission screen and can be managed in Android settings. Declining notification permission does not disable analytics or crash reporting. Analytics and Crashlytics are enabled from the first launch in the release version.
8. This website
This website consists of static pages hosted on Cloudflare. We do not add advertising, visitor analytics, tracking cookies or a contact form. To deliver pages and provide security, Cloudflare may process connection data such as IP addresses, request times, requested URLs and browser information.
Clicking an email link opens your own email app. We receive your message only when you send it. Services opened through external links are subject to their own privacy policies.
9. Updates and contact
When app features or data practices change, we update this policy and show the date on this page. Where necessary, we also notify you of significant changes within the app.
